On the 12th of this month (as you may have read), I did the Portland Bridge Pedal, a ride to raise money for Providence Heart and Vascular Institute. Well I finally am getting around to adding pictures of Laurens excitement.

To recap, Lauren, a friend of mine from school, was ride while a child with unsure riding skills almost hit her. To avoid colliding with the kid she hit some wood, road closed signs. From looking at it, it was about an half inch to an inch sticking out of her leg and the thickness of a #2 pencil.

Now for the new info…

From here on out this might be a bit graphic and too detailed for the weak ones out there. Parental discretion is advised.

First off let us start with a few pictures of how it all looked.

Lauen’s Leg Close Up

Here, as you can see, there is a tree in a leg.

Lauren With Slick In Leg

… and Lauren demonstrates what it would look like if a person was attached to such a leg.

As I said in my earlier post, she had gone to the hospital to get somebody to pull really hard to take it out. Well, that didn’t work. I guess it was in there about two more inches and almost coming out the other side. It split the Tibia and Fibula as it went in too, so it had to be surgically removed. She is fine though for the most part.

I would like to know how this child who she missed is ever going to learn from it’s mistake. To put it in a semi Arrested Development quote:

And that is why we teach lessons.

Yeah, ouch. Very ouch. I guess that’s better than having hit the kid and having a kid sticking out of her leg.

    JEEEBUS! Thats horrible!
