I came across this video and thought it was interesting. The thing about it is that it is one of those ‘that’s interesting but..’ type of videos. Take a look see and tell me what you think.

Hope you liked it.

I have been working at Formos for about 11 months now but had not updated my resume yet. I decided tonight to add the changes for my work at Formos. Feel free to look around and see what I have done.

Riding Along The Columbia

After reading the Bridge Pedal is only a month away, I got inspired to go for a ride. I started by riding to Downtown Vancouver which is about two miles from my place and mostly down hill. Once there, you can skip under the Interstate Bridge and ride along the Columbia river for about three miles or so. This will take you passed Marine Park (a nice place for swimming on hot days – crap I gave out the secret) and stops at about the headquarters for iriver. That last link is actually a link to a map which actually show the road which is next to the path I rode and gives a decent view of where I was (satellite view shows trail).

On the map there is a bit of a Pinocchio nose jettisoning into the river between Marine Park and Wintler Park. This is a man made trail-like pier (I do not know the official name??) which was a nice place to pull up a squat and watch the river go by. It also reminded me how much I miss the beauty of the Puget Sound. *sign*

This has also inspired me to continue my Sunday bike rides throughout Vancouver/Portland. Three rides I am thinking of are around Vancouver Lake (if it’s possible), Eastside Esplanade, and a Marine Drive trip.

If anybody would like to join me or knows of any other places, send me a line.

Bridge Pedal In Less Than One Month

I was at Starbucks this morning doing my Sunday morning coffee and reading thing when I saw some papers for the Bridge Pedal. For those who don’t know what the Bridge Pedal is, it is an event run every year where a group of people take their bikes over all the bridges in Portland.

I am quite excited to do this for a few reasons. 1) I have never been on all the bridges in Portland let alone in one day. 2) I have never ridden my bike in Portland since I got it. 3) It just sounds darn fun.

If you are interested in going with me, give me a holler. If you don’t want to go with me, you can register at the link above. Also they had $3 off coupons at Starbucks as well if you want to get some cash off the ride.

I am so stoked – less than a month to go. See some of you there.

Ubuntu – Not Just For Freaks, Geeks, And Nerds

I learned something yesterday. Ok, I probably learned a few things, but this story stands out.

As a person working in the software development industry, I hear quite a bit about Ubuntu, a relatively new Linux distribution, in the news lately (Wikipedia entry). As nerdy as this may sounds, it is part of my work and a tidbit interesting.

Much to my surprise yesterday when my political science, hippie vive, hates computers friend had fresh tattoo of it on her lower neck/upper back area. Of course, I asked why she had a tattoo of an Operating System on her back because only the most nerdy dorks would ever do that.

Apparently, Ubuntu, the Operating System, gets its name from the African concept ubuntu, meaning ‘humanity towards others’. So for all of you geeky types out there thinking you just found the girl of your dreams, touch that’s not exactly what she meant but close.
