Get Out There and Do It: Exercise Style

When I was in high school, I ran 40 to 60 miles a week for track/cross country training, and I felt great all the time. I had a resting heart rate in the 30s, ate about 6000 calories a day minimum to catch up, and it was fun. Now on the other hand, I never exercise and can feel it. My track coach once told me a story about an interview with a fine young man who had just broken world record in the 800 meter dash.

One of the question was: what was the hardest part of your training? His answer was: ‘Putting on my shorts and getting out the door.’

Even for those who do this professionally, the hardest part is the motivation factor.

Diet Blog has made a list of 10 ways to get yourself to actually exercise (and not just think/talk about it). Without giving away some secrets, some include:

  • Know your self – don’t say you will get up at 5 to run if you are a morning person
  • Learn from Carnegie – surround yourself with motivated people
  • Fievel knows best – ‘Never say never’

Happy motivating.
