Spoon Full of Sugar Makes the Seasonal Allergies go Down

Well ok not exactly.

Roger over at Random Roger’s Big Picture has diverged from his normal talk about stock movements and gives some nice seasonal allergy types.

According to him:

two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, two teaspoons of local honey into 8 ounces of hot water and drink it like tea.

It works in about three minutes and lasts for hours.

Some body who has allergies needs to try this and tell me how it works. Please.

Happy not sneezing.

‘In The Zone’ Caffeine Intake

Phil should like this one.

Energy Fiend has created a ‘game’ to determine what any given person’s caffeine intake is. It is a long list of types of drinks, most of which I have never heard of and their given caffeine amounts. You can add up your daily uses and see how you stack up.

Personally, I am ‘IN THE ZONE’ with my one cut of coffee in the morning and a soda pop at lunch. Whatever that means.

They also have a candy version.

So tell me folks. How do you add up?

Happy wigging out.

Survival Pack on a Budget, Love the Irony

What would you do for food if there were a major natural disaster in your area? Or the British are coming, again? Or Nazis? Or your staple pet food you have for lunch every day gets rat poison in it? Well, you could always create a survival pack.

My ultimate suggestion is to find a friend in the military who could get you a nice box of MREs (I think REI (GI Joes too) sells them as well for the price of a new house. They have an amazing shelf life, and, well, you could eat one if you had to.

But what if you need to do it on a budget? You could either starve, eat your furniture, or take Backwoods Home Magazine’s tip and create a 10 day survival pack for less than $25. Then again, if I run out of my favorite pet food, I might need more than 10 days.

Happy scavenging.

How to be a Gentleman (or Treated Like a Lady)

AskMen.com has created a three part series on Etiquette of a Gentleman – Being a Gentleman. Or I guess you could look at it as what to expect from a man if you are a lady.

It could be summed up (for those of you who are too gentlemanly already and don’t want to read it) as don’t be a jerk, treat a lady like a lady already, and know your role in society. The last one can be also described as not barking above your pay grade.

Happy conversions.

Wordpress Performs Poorly – Intentionally

One of the guys I went to school with, Ray, has created a post about how Wordpress performs poorly requiring sites to install extra ‘patches’ to fix it.

I thought it would be fun to play devil’s advocate on this one just for kicks…

One of the major goals of WP – software which helps running a blog easier for my site including this one – is to have as small of a hhd impression as possible. Of the blogging community there are sites that get a ton of traffic and there are the rest of us (> 95% of all blogs). Those in the 95% area are typically not writing about pertinent enough information to get dugg, slashdotted, de.lico.used, ProBlogged, Blog Herolded, etc. Most of these blogs are not trying to become more than a ‘I had toast for breakfast’ blog either. Of the small amount of sites who are not heavily traveled but are trying to get there, they would have the where with all to know they may need to worry about high traffic numbers in the future and adopt accordingly. For the rest of the world – the ‘toast’ sites – adding some addition code to assist in huge traffic amounts would be not only over kill for these sites (the majority of blogs) but also against the goals of WP.

With all that said, I have plans to add the WP-Cache plugin to my site.

Happy blogging.
