If you are like me and only do dishes about every six weeks, you will appreciate this.  Curbly has determined a way of cleaning those cloudy glasses you have sitting in your sink.  Interesting enough, all it takes is crappy, over-the-counter toothpaste.  Yes toothpaste.

Snoring in Subway

I work about eight blocks from a Subway and in Vancouver that means about a quarter of a mile.  Since it is so close and easy, I eat there very regularly (at least 3 times a week) for lunch.  Today may have been the most interesting though.  You see today, as you may have astutely picked up from the title, there was a guy snoring while I was eating.  At first it was rather quiet to the point that I could barely hear it, wondering what that sound was.  But then it switched into turbo mode and this dude was making it echo off the far walls.  By this point, I can hardly hold it in that I am laughing.  I begin to look around to see if anybody else is laughing and nothing.  I swear some people just don’t know what is fun until I come up and kick them in the butt and tell them it is funny.

Does anybody out there having any interesting lunch stories?  Does your boss eat babies or something like that?

Most of us have not actually had our identity stolen and hopefully never will.  If by chance it is taken at some point, do you know what to do?  The obvious would be to contact your credit cards and bank accounts, but did you know you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission?  Credit Score Tips & Advice has put together 8 steps to take when your ID is stolen.  You might check it out.

I have a friend from college (you might know her - Megan Murphy) who is doing one of those run-a-marathon-to-raise-money-for-a-good-cause deals.  She is looking for a few people to help her out.

She even gave me 5 points why you should donate.

  • Gimme 5 minutes of your time - go to Megan’s website at http://www.active.com/donate/tntnofl/MeganCMurphy, and read about what she is doing.
  • Gimme $5 bucks - just donate online: five dollars for a great cause - and hey if you want to donate more fantastic!
  • Gimme 5 friends - send this to five friends and help spread the word!
  • 5 years is how long a person must remain cancer free before being considered cured.
  • Every 5 minutes someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer - money for research is desperately needed - so donate now.

She has raised $418 so far with a goal of $3900 by June 3.  I know you have a heart so go to the site and do it.

How Long Should I Keep that [Insert Common Household Item]?

Whether it’s your mattress, running shoes, girlfriends, pillows, or smoke alarm, there comes a time for everything to just be gone, upgraded, or replaced.  But really how long am I supposed to keep those cooking spices?  Does Thyme really run out of time.  Well the answer is yes.

Smart Money has put together a list of common stuff you just need to replace from time to time, and they give you some nice life expectancies too.  I would like to warn you though.  This is not a complete list.  My parents, for example, have had the same microwave since their house was built; it is older than I am.  I am pretty sure that the microwaves might be leaking a bit - especially in my dad’s direction.
