I spent this last weekend visiting my sister in Arizona. She moved down there in mid May to go to grad school, and I haven’t seen her since. I have to say that Phoenix as a city is pretty boring, but, hey, as a grad student you don’t really get to enjoy the city life (or any life).

My favorite part of the trip was going hiking in the red rocks by Sedona. If you ever go, it is a must to do the Courthouse Loop and Cathedral Trail. In fact Cathedral Trail is about three quarts of a mile and rises about 700 feet. It was almost climbing.

I am doing a poll of anybody out there who wants to post to find a list of techical books. The reason is simple: my employer gives me $200 every calendar year to purchase any technical book I would like. These do not even have to correspond to my current project or even projects currently being worked on at Formos. I can get anything I want as long as it is not Moby Dick or something like that.

So if there is anybody out there that would like to give a suggestion of what they would buy, please do.

Yep, that is the question I got all day today as I started my last semester of school. And the answer was always, yes, I have graduated. But yes I did start school today, and I have a whopping two classes to work around my work schedule.

Back in March when I registered for these classes, I had written down that my class on MWF was from 9:15-10:10. Since then the faculty decided to change it to 12:30-1:25 without telling me. Logically, being lazy me, I did not look up the new time and just showed up for class. Well the wrong class. It was a Computer Science class which means I know everybody that could be in the class and after seeing a girl sitting in the class I was supposed to be having class in (there are never girls in CS classes), I registered that something was wrong. To make an uninteresting story a little shorter, I got a short -day at work and had to come back later to actually attend class, making two breaks in my work day. Happy first day of school. Only 15 weeks until I get my diploma.
